GATE CITY AT RIDGEVIEW
Friday, November 6, 2026, 7:00 PM — Ridgeview High School, Clintwood, VA
VHSL regular-season finale for both teams.
Two 7-2 teams close the regular season against each other, and there is a revenge thread, but get it right: Ridgeview beat Gate City 34-20 here to close last season. The 42-6 game people remember was Gate City over Central Wise.
Gate City enters 5-0 in the MaxPreps Mountain table on a four-game win streak, behind a passing game built on quarterback Zayne Reed throwing to Parker Jenkins and Kaden Houseright. Ridgeview is 4-1 in that table on a three-game win streak, and its defense has allowed just 112 points in nine games. The Wolfpack replaced a 1,700-yard back from last season with a committee rushing attack, on a roster with just four seniors.
Both teams beat Central Wise, Lee, John Battle, and Abingdon this season. Against common opponent Union, Gate City won 21-15 while Ridgeview lost 23-20. The table math is simple: a Gate City win makes the Blue Devils 6-0 in the table, while a Ridgeview win leaves both at 5-1, with Union also able to finish 5-1.
