MIDWAY AT COSBY
Friday, November 6, 2026, 7:00 PM — Virgil Ball Stadium, Cosby, TN
TSSAA Class 1A playoffs, first round.
A rematch with the tables turned. Last November, Midway ended Cosby's season 27-13 at Kingston in the first round, and Midway leads the postseason series 3-0. This time Cosby hosts as Region 1 champion and No. 1 seed, 9-1 on an eight-game winning streak after beating Jellico 44-21 for the region title.
Cosby's senior duo drives it. Quarterback Spencer Moore entered the Jellico game with 22 passing touchdowns, and running back David Baker was averaging 109.6 rushing yards per game with 19 total touchdowns per MaxPreps figures from October 27. Stopping one without the other beating you is the whole Midway defensive problem.
Midway is the form team in the other direction. The Green Wave started 1-4, then won five straight to reach 6-4, including a 28-17 win at Wartburg Central on October 29, and they arrive as the Region 2 No. 4 seed.
The winner advances to the second round on Friday, November 13, against the Whitwell/Robertson Innovation winner.
