TSSAA Football Regions for 2027 and 2028 Are Out — Here Is Where Our Schools Land

The TSSAA posted its new football regions for the 2027 and 2028 seasons on Friday, November 6, 2026.

These are the football region assignments for the 2027-28 seasons. They are not final yet — teams may appeal their placement to the TSSAA Board of Control on November 19, and appeals must be submitted to the TSSAA no later than Monday, November 16.

Here is where the Tennessee schools in our coverage area land. Virginia schools are not part of the TSSAA, so they are not in these alignments.

Class 1A — Region 1: Cloudland, Cosby, Hampton, North Greene, Unaka. Hampton moves down from Class 2A to Class 1A, the only classification change among our schools.

Class 2A — Region 1: Happy Valley, South Greene, West Greene.

Class 3A — Region 1: Chuckey-Doak, Johnson County, Unicoi County.

Class 4A — Region 1: Cherokee, Elizabethton, Greeneville, Sullivan East, Volunteer.

Class 5A — Region 1: Daniel Boone, David Crockett, Tennessee High.

Class 6A — Region 1: Dobyns-Bennett, Science Hill, West Ridge. They are joined in the region by Campbell County, Jefferson County and Oak Ridge. Oak Ridge moves from Region 2-6A to Region 1-6A, and Campbell County moves up from Class 5A to Class 6A.

Every Tennessee school in our coverage area is in Region 1 of its class. The full statewide list is on the TSSAA website.
