THE WEBB SCHOOL ANNOUNCES BASEBALL COACHING STAFF FOR 2027 SEASON: LED BY MACK HAWKS' RETURN TO COACHING

Veteran Championship Coach Joins Returning Player-Development Leader Scott Hall and Professional Baseball Veteran Brady Puckett

BELL BUCKLE, TENN. – The Webb School is pleased to announce its spring 2027 Baseball Coaches Mack Hawks, Brady Puckett and Scott Hall, each bringing decades of experience, professional baseball knowledge and a shared commitment to developing the School's program.

Leading the charge as head high school varsity coach for the Webb Feet will be Mack Hawks, a 2014 Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee and longtime head coach at Oakland High School. Hawks, who retired last spring after a distinguished career with the Patriots, holds a record of sustained success, including 760 career victories, two State championships, nine District championships, seven Region titles and seven State tournament appearances.

He will be joined in the dugout by returning Webb School coaches Scott Hall, assigned to lead player development, and Brady Puckett, who will head the 2027 Middle School Baseball program. This coaching staff represents Webb's continued commitment to building a sustainable program grounded in player development, strong coaching and continuity across all levels.

Hall's commitment to Webb baseball and its student-athletes remains strong, and after stepping away from the demands of head coaching at the end of the 2025–26 school year, he is delighted to assume this new support role. As head of player development, Hall's primary focus will be helping players improve their skills, build confidence and prepare for success at the next level of competition. Under Hall's tutelage, The Webb School saw five Varsity Baseball players from the Class of 2026 — Owen Fogle, Thomas Evans, Sammy Ledbetter, Ryan Edwards and Gunnar Boles — matriculate to collegiate athletic programs this fall.

In addition to an established connection to The Webb School Baseball program, Head Middle School Coach Puckett brings professional experience as a minor league pitcher for five seasons. As he returns to Webb this spring, Puckett is committed to working with the School's youngest athletes to build fundamental skills, foster a positive team culture and prepare for the transition to competitive high school baseball.

"Building a successful program takes more than talent on the field. It takes outstanding coaches, a commitment to player development and a shared vision for where the program is going," said Executive Director of Athletics Bill McClain. "We are excited to bring Mack, Scott and Brady together. Their experience, investment in our student-athletes and commitment to Webb give us a strong foundation as we build for the future."

Webb seeks to build on its foundation for younger players while providing families with an environment that pairs competitive athletics with a strong independent school education.

"We want young athletes and their families to see a clear path at Webb," McClain explained. "That means quality coaching, meaningful opportunities to develop and compete and an academic experience that prepares students for life beyond baseball. Our goal is to build a program that our players, families and community can be proud of."

Founded in 1870 by renowned educator Sawney Webb, The Webb School is the South's oldest continuously operating co-ed, independent college preparatory school for boarding, day and international students in grades 6–12. Located in Bell Buckle, Tenn., Webb is committed to academic excellence, integrity and the development of character in students.
