Cosby head football coach Levi Cooper joined NETN & SWVA Sports Zone's Coaches Corner on Wednesday, ahead of Friday's Class 1A playoff first-round game against Midway at Cosby.
Cooper talked about what the No. 1 seed and Region 1 title mean for his players and community, saying it is exciting for the kids and the community to see all the work they have put in come to fruition. He said flipping last year's season-ending 27-13 loss to Midway comes down to continuing what Cosby has done for the past couple of months: the way the team goes about its business Monday through Thursday, how it prepares, watches film, and pays attention to detail.
On offense, Cooper said Cosby tries to take whatever the defense gives it, describing the Eagles as a big RPO and big tempo team. He also pointed to a veteran group of about 18 seniors, some of whom have started 40 games, and said the team has a couple of bumps and bruises from the Jellico game but nothing serious and nobody out for Friday.
Midway started 1-4 and has won five straight entering Friday's game.
